The largest island in the Great Salt Lake is the Antelope Island State Park. It is the best place to get a perfect view of the Great Salt Lake and the vast solitude of the great Basin can be experienced.
The Antelope Island consisting of about 28,022 acres and measures 15 miles in length while about 7 miles in width from the maximum widest point. This Island is located in the Great Salt Lake, 35 miles northwest of Salt Lake City and 25 miles southwest of Ogden.
From Salt Lake City, the interesting cultural history, beautiful scenery and the amazing Island is just thirty minutes apart.
For only nine dollars a visitor can get a single-day vehicle entry. A visitor has to pay for an entire car whether it may contain only a single person or a family together. Actually it doesn’t matter because the gorgeous scenery, on the way to Antelope Island and in the Island, is just amazing.
The park consists of sand beach, camp grounds and hiking trails and the Fielding Garr Ranch site for history. But the main attraction behind all these is simply the scenery. The quietness over there carries the mystery. It’s a great place to spend a couple of hours as for visitors interested in rock climbing can easily tromping up and down the hills. Also behind the nature, a plenty of wildlife available there such as bald eagles, eponymous antelope and bison.
From May through September the park hours are from 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. For October it’s from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. From November to February it’s from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. And for March and April the time hours are from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.
